“The best people to market your business are your happy customers. To hear the person’s voice makes such a difference – it comes across with authenticity and genuineness that doesn’t come across always in text.”
Snapshot
Simon Millington is the owner of Delamere Wellbeing Solutions, which delivers mental wellbeing training, education, and health and wellbeing coaching. Simon works with both individual clients and corporate organisations. He partnered with 5 Star Stories to capture a video case study with Erin, a participant from a workshop he delivered on behalf of a corporate client.
The Challenge
Simon’s workshops consistently received positive end-of-session feedback. But standard feedback forms – scores out of ten, a few written comments – couldn’t answer the question that actually matters: did participants apply what they learned, and did it make a real difference?
“Sometimes people will get feedback at the end of a workshop – ‘had a great time, eight out of ten, really enjoyed the resources.’ This video case study with a participant provided a different element to that.”
For a practitioner working with corporate clients, this gap carries a specific cost. Without documented evidence of impact, it’s harder to return to a client and demonstrate the value of further investment – and harder still to win new business from prospects who want proof, not promises.
The Process
Simon identified a willing participant from a recent workshop cohort and introduced her to 5 Star Stories. From that point, the process required very little from him.
“5 Star Stories took the reins and managed everything from start to finish – organised the meeting, conducted the interview, produced the resources, and then sent them to me in a shared file. I would say the process was painless and really, really valuable.”
The interview took place approximately a month after the workshop – deliberately timed to allow the participant to apply what she’d learned before reflecting on it.
The Impact
The resulting case study revealed outcomes Simon had no previous way of accessing. In her own words, Erin described the specific tools she had taken from Simon’s sessions and how she had applied them in her life and work.
“To hear the person’s voice makes such a difference. It came across with authenticity and genuineness that doesn’t come across always in text.”
Simon now has assets he can use across his sales and marketing process – short clips across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, a full video case study on his website, and written reports and an infographic he can share with existing and prospective corporate clients.
“It reinforced [my confidence]. Sometimes, when you work as a solopreneur, it’s a bit of an echo chamber – you don’t really know, am I adding value? This just made that come to life.”
And critically, the case study is now part of how Simon evidences impact with the organisations he works with – both to strengthen existing client relationships and to support new business conversations. He can now point prospective clients directly to documented proof of what his work delivers. “It’s not just the video – it’s a variety of different tools that you can use in different ways.”
Verdict
“Before this, I didn’t know it existed and I didn’t know the power of it. Now I can see the full value of it.”
